After his first DE at CMP, Jon is ready to tackle a “big track”. The PeachState PCA organized a DE event at Road Atlanta (in Braselton, GA) which is less than 2 hours away from home. Jon left home early on Saturday morning to arrive at the track in time for the morning meeting and tech inspection.
Jon was again assigned a great instructor (Ed). Ed is very experienced and gave Jon many great tips. Day 1 was focused on braking smoothness to set up the car for corner entry (especially Turn 3 and Turn 7). Overnight, Jon also reviewed the in-car video from his new GoPro camera, to understand the corners that he needed to improve. In Day 2, there was more focus on “high performance driving” (no coasting down the Esses!), and before long Jon was catching the car in front of him at, yes, the Esses.
Cecilia, Jacob, and Coco joined Jon at the track on Sunday. The whole family dressed up in their smart Spa-Francorchamps gears, and had a great time enjoying the “roller coaster” charity ride!
