Toby and his family visted LA and planned a special afternoon trip to the Petersen Museum. Kenny and his family drove from SF to join them.
Since the start of the COVID pandemic in 2019, Petersen has hosted virtual exhibits on YouTube, but there is nothing like seeing the cars in person.
As always there were multiple subjects covered, with Hypercars, Mercedes/Andy Warhol Art Collection and Papaya McLaren as headliners.
Hypercars exhibit began right at the entrance with a Ferrari FXX, McLaren P1, Lamborghini Sian and Koenigsegg Regera, before even getting to the ticket counter.

It’s hard to top this list, but in the main collection was Toby’s clear favorite, the Pagani Zonda Tricolor.

The collection also includes other category defining cars such as the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport, Porsche 918, Koenigsegg One:1, Remic Nevera, and a couple “look great from some angles” McLaren Senna and Hispano Suiza Carmen.

Just across the hall were Papaya McLaren race cars, before sponsors dominated liveries. The collection included the all conquering M8 and the MCL33 F1, which returned to its traditional color in 2018.

Last but certainly not least was the Mercedes / Andy Warhol Art Collection, which featured Toby ‘s other favorite, the 300SL Gullwing. It also featured the W196 R F1 that powered Juan-Manuel Fangio to 1954 and 1955 World Champion, and Andy Warhol’s own Rolls Royce (not Mercedes). And did I mention the art on the wall?
