Jon and his Dream Cars – High Museum of Art

. . . [We] dream of cars that will float and fly, or run on energy from a laser beam, or travel close to the ground without wheels. Such research may border on the fantastic, but so did the idea of a carriage going about the country without a horse.—The Ford Book of Styling, 1963.

In 2001 Jon and Kenny both worked in Toronto. A typical Friday evening would include racing Kyosho MINI-Z’s at the local radio controlled car racetrack. In the beginning Jon had a Lexus IS (since he drove a Corolla, close enough), while Ken had a JGTC Mugen NSX (no, he did not own one!). When Jon saw a Lancia Stratos body with Alitalia liveries, he immediately bought it and started race with it. Over the years Jon developed a love for Lancias despite knowing that he may never own one…

Jon and Ken no longer raced radio controlled cars; however over the years Jon continued to buy MINI-Z bodies and proudly display them at his home.

When Kenny visited South Carolina in July 2014, Jon and Kenny went to the Dream Cars Exhibition at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. The museum named the exhibition “Dream Car” JUST FOR JON… the exhibition poster and book cover was the Lancia Stratos Zero – Jon’s ultimate dream car. Jon literally drained the whole battery of his phone taking pictures from all angles of this very special car.

But wait… there was another dream car! The Porsche 918 Concept Car!

Jon and Kenny could not touch the Stratos nor the 918 at the exhibition, they decided to make up for it by visiting “certain car dealership” during the week to kickoff Jon’s search for his everyday dream car (while Kenny just got his Cayman the week before).
